Aquatic Control Engineering are looking for a proactive Assistant Production and Inventory Planner to join the busy Manufacturing, Production and Assembly function of the company.
Aquatic Control Engineering are a leader within their sector, supplying turnkey mechanical and electrical solutions for water management, flood defence and environmental services. Aquatic Control Engineering design and manufacture water flow control products through their brand AQUIKO. This role will be to focus on the AQUIKO product range alongside our standard sales process and projects process.
The Assistant Production and Inventory Planner will support the Head of Production and Assembly and work closely with the Procurement Assistant. They will be a key contact for assisting in processing productions through to fabrications. They will ensure procurement packs are created using bills of materials and work closely with the procurement assistant to ensure inventory of stock items are available working to the correct schedules.
Job Role, duties and responsibilities:
• Support the Head of Production & Assembly in developing and maintaining production schedules for project work and standard stock builds
• Liaise with Procurement to ensure all parts and materials are ordered and available in line with production needs
• Review Bills of Materials (BOMs) and understand parts requirements across single products and full assemblies
• Learn and apply knowledge of our product range, materials, and manufacturing processes
• Group parts into material and process categories for supplier tendering and production sequencing
• Identify and extract components from design libraries and production systems for ordering and scheduling
• Track supplier delivery schedules and proactively follow up to ensure timely arrival of materials
• Work closely with Warehouse & Assembly teams to coordinate material availability across multiple live projects
• Communicate updates and potential risks to internal departments including Design, Projects, and Procurement
• Monitor inventory levels alongside the Procurement Assistant and Assembly Team Leaders
• Assist in managing unexpected demands, supply delays, or production issues by proposing and coordinating solutions
• Input and update data in internal systems to maintain accurate records and reporting information
Support, training, checks and controls will be in place to ensure our procedures, processes and systems are communicated to provide the best opportunity to get up to speed quickly is given.
Key skills:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills enabling the role to work with colleagues at all levels
• Ability to read and understand Engineering drawings
• Experience of using CAD software
• Ability to accurately check quantities; reviewing bills of materials
• Excellent telephone manner to talk to both customers/supply chain and colleagues
• Good IT skills including the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outloook
• Excellent self-management skills to work independently to grow this role and to work as part of a wider team, using own initiative and being flexible and adaptable
• Proactive approach and willingness to develop and document systems, processed and procedures
Experience – previous experience of managing workload, being able to prioritise work to meet deadlines in a calm and professional manner. It is preferable that the successful candidate has experience in a Manufacturing or Engineering background.
Qualifications – No specific qualification is required within Business or Engineering however, relevant qualifications are desirable.
